Carr Lane Manufacturing has an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Sr. Inspector to work at a nationally recognized manufacturer located in St. Louis, Missouri. The Quality Control Sr. Inspector will perform a variety of tasks in the Quality area.

Basic Function:

Direct workflow of inspectors as needed under the guidance of management; following established procedures, conducting inspection and the testing of raw material, as well as in-process materials, purchased materials, outside processing and finished items. Record findings on appropriate forms. Ensure certification of company and employee gages to externally certified gages. The ability to work as part of a team is vital to this position.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the establishment and implementation of quality specifications, testing procedures and standards for raw material, outside processing, purchased, in-process and finished items for compliance to customer requirements, company specifications and procedures, and/or government regulation.
  • Demonstrate capability to utilize micrometer and calipers to obtain reliable readings.
  • Demonstrate capability to utilize all departmental inspection and test equipment to produce reliable results.
  • Enforce departmental procedures related to the care, control, and monitoring of company inspection equipment, including sign out/in controls.
  • Enforce company procedures to ensure conformance to company and departmental procedures.
  • Demonstrate capability to read and interpret prints, routings and/or work orders. Verify capability of Grade A & B inspectors to do the same, when directed.
  • Following established procedures and work instructions, ensure certification of company and employee gages to externally certified gages. Maintain appropriate records.
  • Inspect and/or test items in accordance with work orders, prints, specifications and/or quality plans according to standard departmental procedures and work instructions. Record results on appropriate forms. Provide feedback to management and operators over inspection results.
  • Assist employees in the application of inspection and sampling techniques and process control procedures to ensure production of items meeting quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct research and analysis on product defects and customer complaints under the direction of the Quality Control Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-7 years in Quality Control/Assurance
  • Trade school or some college strongly preferable
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point
  • PC: DMIS experience preferable
  • Experienced in use of Calipers, Micrometers, Manual CMM, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints with little to no direction
  • Comfortable directing work flow as needed
  • Able to change tasks quickly as needed
